Okowa of Delta State has described the Warri Port as a key factor to economic development of the state and the nation while calling for its resuscitation..
Governor Okowa stated this when the Olu of Warri Ogiamen Ikenwoli 1 visited him in Government House, Asaba.
The governor observed that with the congestion in Lagos ports, the federal government should revive Warri Port and other sea ports to boost the nation’s economy.
‘There is no doubt that the Warri Port is a key economic factor for our state and the nation. The earlier we get it working the better for us,’’ the governor stated.
He noted that it is in the best interest of the country to expand, create and develop port facilities, adding that Lagos ports were already congested and more ports mean more boost to our economy.
Okowa used the occasion to inform the Warri monarch of his administration’s commitment to meet the yearnings of the people through projects that would impact positively on them.
He also thanked the Warri monarch for the partnership that exists between Warri kingdom and the state government, adding that his administration is committed to executing many projects in the kingdom in consultation with the monarch and constituents.
