Late Elder Obo Peter Abia -
The Apostolic Church lost a gem when Late Elder Obo Peter Abia left the world for the great beyond, December 19, 2018 at the General Hospital Calabar. His funeral rite was conducted May 10, 2019 at The Apostolic Church, Cobham Town District, Cobham Town Area, Calabar Field, 49 Beecrot Street, Calabar while his remains were interred in his home town, Ikot Essien Ibesikpo in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Late Elder Obo was an amiable, sociable, vibrant man who, impacted positively on everybody who came his way. He was a spirit filled devoted Christian, who joined the service of God and worshiped in The Apostolic Church, Nigeria Cobham Town, Calabar District, Cross Rivers State.
Ete Obo as he was fondlycalled, was born into a Christian home, the family of late Chief Peter Udo Abiaof Ikot Essien Ibesikpo and Late Madam Affiong Etim John of Oku Uyo in UyoLocal Government Area all in Akwa Ibom State. Following the foot prints of hisparents in his early days, he worshipped God in Zion Church where he and his parentswere among the founders, before joining the Methodist Church Nigeria.
The deceased laterchanged faith and was baptized into The Apostolic Church fold, Ikot Essien,Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. That same year, hewas inducted fully into the fold after the Right Hand of Fellowship.Thedoctrine he strongly upheld with his entire family till death. In his hometown, Elder Obo Peter served God and the Church in many capacities. He wasappointed an assistant choirmaster and a Sunday school teacher for a number ofyears before he transferred to services to settle in Calabar for search of greenerpastures.
Late Elder Obo Peterwas appointed a Deacon, a position he held till February 25, 1984 and also anElder, hence his ordination the same year. “Abia Edim-Abia Ikanna” as was fondly called by Apostle (Dr.) W.Ekpenyong (rtd), was elevated to the position of Presiding Elder in 1987.
He was a generaladviser, great mentor, epitome of peace; indeed a true Christian. Inrecognition of his contributions to church and society, family and churchmembers, friends and others from far and near came to bid Elder Obo Peterfarewell as he was finally lowered to mother earth in his home town.
He is survived by hiswife Deaconess (Mrs) Arit Obo Peter , eight children- Mr. Ndiefreke Obo Peter,Ene-anwan Obo Peter, Elder Samuel Obo Peter, John Obo Peter, Ene Obo Peter, Glory Obo Peter, Joshua OboPeter, Bassey Obo Peter, grand children, brothers, sisters and other relatives.
