Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State in the heartland of the Niger Delta, has received a huge boost to its profile as the chosen location for an Alternative Dispute Resolution ADR centre, being set up by the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission NUPRC in the oil bearing Niger Delta.
Details to this effect came on the heels of a visit to Senator Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa State Wednesday, February 22, 2023 by a team of NUPRC officials led by Captain John Roland Tonlagha, Executive Commissioner, Health Safety, Environment and Host communities.
The establishment of the ADR centre beside boosting the number of corporate entities in Bayelsa capital, is expected to contribute to employment opportunity, as well as the easing of relations between host communities and oil companies as years of unresolved legal disputes have contributed to the testy relations between people in oil bearing areas and the oil companies which operate in these communities.
