As anger and condemnation continues to trail the two phases of the just concluded 2023 general elections the Southern Region Pastor of the Omega Fire Ministry, Dr Azemhe Azena has said changing our electoral process from analogue to digital will eliminate vote buying, ballot box snatching and electoral violence among other vices.
Azemhe also said Nigeria will grow economically when the teaming jobless youths become fully engaged with meaningful ventures, mostly in technology.
The cleric made the assertion at the 2023 General Elections Situation Room of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, Benin City, Edo State.
“Vote buying can only be eliminated through digital electoral system, not this type of analogue we are doing today. The day we transit fully into digital voting, there will be no more ballot box or ballot papers to be snatched. That will curb every electoral crimes. It will also stop violence and vote buying.
“If I can sit in the comfort of my home to vote, how do you now know who I voted for? There will be no place for thugs to attack anybody” he added.
He also said Nigeria will realize her full potentials when the energy of the teeming jobless youths are channelled positively, mostly into technology.
“This country will develop when the older ones are able to allow the younger generation take over, when their enormous energy is channelled to positive things, mostly in technology. It is not that I am in support of Yahoo (Internet fraud) or Yahoo Plus. As a preacher, I have been preaching against it but the fact is that these boys are jobless and an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. So, the incoming government has a lot to do, mostly in providing jobs for these jobless youths”, he said.
The cleric decried the quantum of money spent on electioneering in Nigeria saying there is no how after spending such amount of money the person will not be loyal to the godfathers who may have sponsored the campaigns.
“The money we spend in our elections are much. How can a young person afford that? It is impossible! If he or she is sponsored, then he is going there to carry out the agenda of the godfather who sponsored him.
“They passed the “Not Too Young To Run Bill” but nobody has thought of “Not Too Poor To Run Bill.” he pointed out.
