An aspirant in the forthcoming Edo State gubernatorial poll and former Commissioner for Education in the state, Hon. Gideon Obhakhan has pledged to boost quality education, agriculture, Information Communications Technology (ICT), as well as youth and women empowerment to douse the harsh effects of subsidy removal, should he become the governor of Edo State.
Obhakhan thanked President Bola Tinubu for mustering the courage to remove the long talked about petrol subsidy.
Explaining how he would fulfil the promises, the aspirant stated, “We are going to focus on the farm settlements. You will be proud to go into farming. Second one will be on road infrastructure with particular attention on access roads to farms. We will also provide security so that people can go to farms.”
Obhakhan made the promises at an interaction with pressmen at the Edo State Nigeria Union of Journalists, Council Secretariat in Benin City.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) guber hopeful, also said he would continue to appeal to Edo people to allow Edo Central Senatorial District take the 2024 governorship slot.
He said the lobby is very important because Edo Central does not have the numerical strength to singlehandedly produce a governor, therefore it has to garner support from other zones to actualise its ambition.
“So, for fairness and equity, we are lobbying and reaching out to other districts, they should support Esan extraction to produce the next governor after Governor Obaseki”, Gideon Obhakhan stressed.
