Brig.-Gen. Oluremi Obolo, Commander of the 16 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe, has underscored the vital roles of sports and education in individual development.
Speaking at the 2nd annual inter-house competition organized by Command Science Secondary School Ebedebiri, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa, Brig.-Gen. Obolo stated that these two pillars shape well-rounded individuals. He emphasized that while the classroom molds the mind, sports cultivate spirit, physical fitness, resilience, teamwork, and leadership.
The Brigade Commander highlighted the Nigerian Army’s commitment to holistic education, where academic achievement is complemented by physical fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Lt Col PG Abal, Acting Director of 6 Division Nigerian Army Educational Services, echoed these sentiments, noting that the competition celebrates discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and excellence.
He emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities in developing leadership, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure.
Lt Col Solomon Elegbede, Commandant of Command Science Secondary School Ebedebiri, thanked the dignitaries for their presence and wished them safe travels.
