Come Saturday December 2 2023, Asaba, Delta State’s picturesque capital by the River Niger, will fill up with colourfully dressed and enthusiastic sons, daughters, family and friends on that day, the Asagba of Asaba, HRM Prof. Joseph Chike Edozien, MD, CFR confers prestigious chieftaincy titles on illustrious sons and daughters of the kingdom.
Among those to be honoured, are engineer, politician and businessman, Dr. Ken Mordi, who would be honoured with the Olinzele Chieftaincy. Mordi, from Obi-Ugbe village Umuonaje Quarters, Asaba is elated on being chosen.’I consider it an honour to be recognised for this. It is a big thing to be honoured by your own people. My grandfather was himself a one time Asagba. I know what this honour means.”
All personalities to be honoured, are required to go into seclusion in the days leading up to the conferment as part of the traditional rites.
