A soldier on guard at the FIPL Power Station at Alode in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has reportedly shot dead a suspected armed assailant. Reports said the deceased was among three men armed with cutlasses that confronted the solider with an aim to disarm him and snatch his rifle. The soldier was said to have responded swiftly, gunning down one of the suspects, while the other two escaped. The military authorities in Port Harcourt were yet to make an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
