The senator representing Bayelsa Senatorial District and governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Douye Diri has emerged as the flag-bearer of the party for the forthcoming governorship election scheduled to hold on November 16, 2019.
Senator Douye Diri polled 561 votes to beat his closest contender, Chief Ndutimi Alaibe who polled 365 votes in the keenly contested primaries held at the Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Center in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
Keniebi Okoko came third with 142 votes followed by Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah who polled 62 votes, Konbowei Benson polled 24 votes, Fredrick Agbedi 18 votes, Reuben Okoya 17 votes, Nimibofa Ayawei 7 votes and Joshua Macaiver, 7 votes.
Kemela Okara, Godknows Igali, Etolor Robinson and Franklin Osaisaiall polled 4 votes each while Johnson Kiyaramo, Benson Agadaga, Talford Ongolo and Alagoa David each polled 3 votes each and Emmanuel Paulker, Igiri Tobi, 2 votes respectively.
The returning officer of the party governorship primaries and governor of Taraba State, Dr. Darius Ishaku announced that out of the 1253 total votes cast, 1237 votes were valid while 16 votes were voided.
