…DECRY NEGLECT BY GOVERNMENT
Despite the heavy down pour and threats of violence made by political gladiators in the Edo State governorship election holding today Saturday September 21,2024, persons with disability, PWDs, trooped out to cast their votes for the next governor of the state.
Mr. Fatal Jimoh, aged 61 years and registered voter in EredoLocal Government Area, ward 4 polling unit 20, told National Point that no matter his condition everybody likes development, and desires continuity in governance for which reason, he came out to exercise his civic right.
“No matter my condition I want development, continuity in governance and am out to exercise my civic right,” he stated.
And his compelling need, attention to human capitsldevelopment by whoever emerges as the next governor..
I implore the person who will emerge the winn to govern well;the next governor to look at human capital, infrastructural and all area development at every nook and cranny of Edo State”.
Elder Jimoh decried a situation where people living with disabilities has been neglected in the state.
Fatayi Jimoh,with a heavy laden voice expressed how they are excluded in the distribution of all the palliatives in Edo State,” he said.
He lamented the neglect of PWDs by the state government and calls for a better treatment in the next dispensation.
“We are excluded in the palliative distribution in the state and not evenly done”.
The 62 years old Jimoh appeal to those in authority to prioritise the welfare of those living with disabilities because they need employment too.
Also speaking to this medium, Hon. Bright Aisien, theimmediate past councillor who represented Eredo Local Government Area, ward 4, said in the ward which has 43 polling units. there are over 20,000 voters and.the slight reduction of voters is as a result of the heavy rain and threats of violence made during the build up to the election.
“Due to the rain the turn up seems low but the process for now is peaceful,” he added.
Meanwhile, casting his vote in Eredo Local Government Area, ward 4 polling unit 19, the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki said he was glad with the process at the moment; stressing that the voting process is peaceful.
“I am glad with what am seeing in my unit for now and I just hope that the collation process will be the same”
Obaseki expressed satisfaction with the security arrangement and asked them not to be biased as they are ready for the election.
