The paramount ruler/Nye-Weli of Woji Community in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State, HRH Eze Amb. Sir, (Dr.) Emeka George Ihunwo (JP), has charged the newly installed and conferred chiefs in the community to not only justify their new titles but also to contribute their quota toward the development and progress of the area.
Eze Emeka Ihunwo gave this charge in remarks during the conferment and coronation of some chiefs and celebration of seven years anniversary of his reign as the paramount ruler of Woji.
The traditional ruler charged: “As we coronate and confer you today as one of the chiefs in Woji community, try to put in your best by contributing your quota towards the development and progress of Woji community, so, see where you make impact for the advancement of Woji community”.
Eze Ihunwo said the leadership of the community is doing a lot for the development of Woji and invited the new chiefs to join the train.
“Be part of the community. be part of us and support us. Beside, see the coronation and conferment of these titles on you as an opportunity to go and do more good for Woji community and the society at large,” he said.
The monarch urged them to co-operate and work closely with indigenes of Woji for community building pointing out that chieftaincy titles are not only meant for indigenes.
He maintained that the era of buying and selling chieftaincy titles has gone, noting that chieftaincy titles are for those who deserve it whether they are indigenes or non-indigenes.
“Chieftaincy titles are not for sale at Woji community when a people or a monarch of particular community begins to sell or buy chieftaincy title, it brings the community into dispute. At Woji community we only give chieftaincy titles to those who deserve it and those who are ready and determined to develop the community.” Eze Ihunwo stressed.
He urged them to contribute to both Woji and their own communities.
“Now as a chief in Woji community. We pray that you will not only be a source of blessing to the people of Woji but also to your respective community back home.”
Eze Ihunwo assured the people of Woji community that he would continue to protect and defend the interest of the community.
Speaking to newsmen about the coronation ceremony, an indigene of Andoni LGA of Rivers State, Chief Nte Oromeneforokuma said the conferment of chieftaincy title of Eze Chituru (God decides) 1 of Woji community it would encourage him to do more for the community.
He described Eze Ihunwo as a competent monarch who has been able to unite both indigenes and non indigenes in Woji community and commended the Eze Ihunwo and the people of Woji for the honour done him and his fellow new chiefs, pointing out that the achievement and milestone of Eze Ihunwo is second to none in Woji.
During the 7 years anniversary celebration of Eze Ihunwo as the paramount ruler of Woji, 3 cars were donated and dedicated to the people of the community by Eze Ihunwo.
