Communiqué ofthe Igbo National Council (INC) after its National Working Committee (NWC)meeting held on Sunday, June 2nd 2019 at Enugu, Enugu State
The meeting which was attended bydelegates cutting across the thirteen states and other eminent Igbo citizensdeliberated on various issues bordering on State of the Nigeria State and theIgbo Nation which includes issues on Security, Economy, and Socio-politicalmatters as it directly affects the citizens.
Analyzing the state of affairs inthe present Nigeria, the meeting frowned on the nonchalant manner the FederalGovernment of Nigeria was responding to many critical and challenging issuesthat are negatively affecting citizens and threatening the peace and unity ofthe Nigeria Project.
Consequent upon the above, themeeting therefore resolved as follows:
INC vehemently rejects the wide rumored Presidential Order withdrawing gun licenses from Nigerians. INC is of the opinion that withdrawal of gun licenses will make citizens, many communities and regions of Nigeria to be very venerable to attack and invasion by Herdsmen.
Furthermore, INC condemn in itstotality the disbursement of one hundred billion naira (N100b) to herdsmen andthe issuance of radio license to Miyetti Allah.
On the foregoing, we call on theFederal Government of Nigeria to withdraw the purported radio license toMiyetti Allah which is a terrorize organization that has been maiming andkilling people in many states in Nigeria.
INC call on President Mohammadu Buhari to dissolve the present National Security Council (NSC) and reconstitute it in line with Federal Character Principle where each geo-political zones of Nigeria will be equitably represented.
Finally, the INC request theFederal Government of Nigeria to adopt May 30th of every year as a National Dayof Mourning in remembrance of the fallen heros of the Biafra-Nigeria civil war.
Consequently, May 30th of everyyear should be declared as public holiday.
