The guber flagbearer of the Labour Party Mrs Beatrice Itubo recently paid a condolence visit to the widow of the late paramount ruler of Rumeme Kingdom, HRM Nye-Nwe-Eli Omunakwe Nyeche Nsirim (OCC) Apeti of Rumueme Kingdom, HRM Ethel Nsirim.
The LP candidate who came with an entourage of some state and local government party officials described the late monarch as a father to the party, the state labour union and all.
She told the widow that his death is a loss to not just his family and kinsmen but both the state and nation and pledged the body’s commitment to full participation in the burial to honour a great man.
Mrs Itubo who doubles as the chairperson of the Rivers State Nigerian Labour Congress said the deceased left a legacy of good works for which he would be remembered.
HRM Nye-New-Eli Omunakwe who died early January was aged 96. He was a respected business man and statesman.
