“ Then the master said to the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”- Luke 14:23
‘Anagkazo’ is the Greek word that is translated “to compel.” The Assignment of preaching the Gospel and soul winning requires a compelling dimension to it for the following reasons:
Firstly, due to the urgency of the matter. Securing one’s Eternal Destiny by giving one’s life to Christ and becoming a born again child of God is not something that should be postponed or that can wait for another day. The excuses that men give for not accepting the Invitation of God into His Kingdom, or delaying their response, can only be the result of deep spiritual blindness and lack of understanding of the urgency of the matter.
A soul winner or preacher who understands this sense of urgency will have a compelling force to his or her messages or preaching. This compelling force is essential in bringing men into the Kingdom. It quickens the message of the gospel and sets on fire the hearts of the hearers with a Spiritual Awakening they cannot easily shake off.
The second reason for ‘Anagkazo’ is that the forces of evil will not let go of the souls of men without a fight. Souls need to be snatched out of their grip and forced out of bondage into liberty. That is why Jesus said in Luke 16:16, “The Law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is pressing into it.”
Lastly, God Almighty as a Loving Father desires His House to be full of His children. Any unfilled space in the House is a sign that one of His children is lost out there, outside His Kingdom. That is why He said, “..compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Nothing will break God’s Heart as much as losing any of His children and nothing will give Him as much joy as having them restored back into His Fold. In Luke 15:7, Jesus stated it clearly: “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in Heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety nine just persons who need no repentance.”
Pray this Prayer boldly:
Lord, cause me to see the need to compel men and women to come into Your Kingdom and to pay whatever price necessary to bring them into the Banquet You have prepared in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
