On the evening of Sunday May 23, Vigilante members rescued a man from being beaten to coma at Ojotolane street in Mile 3 Diobu of Port Harcourt.
National Point gathered from a human rights platform that the man had booked two girls and agreed to pay N15,000 to each of them for their services.
After the show he did a fake crash transfer to them. The ladies saw the alert and without checking their account balance, left.
When they got home, however, they realized the alert was fake. In anger, the young ladies mobilized two others and four of them went to the con man’s street. Luckily, they spotted him outside his compound pounced on him and beat him mercilessly. They threw him inside the gutter.
Fortunately for him, Dim/Ojotolane/EkwulobiaStreet Mile 3 Diobu Vigilante group rescued him and pleaded that the money will be paid to the ladies.
The incident occurred at about 5pm.
The man is reported to be receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, investigations revealed that fraudsters are using fake alerts to defraud customers.
According to the human rights platform, “The issue of fake alert is the reigning thing now in Diobu and PH”. It warned, “If somebody transfers money to you, even if you see the alert, check your account balance to be sure. They are using it to dupe so many people”.
