The chairmen and governorship candidates of various political parties who stepped down for Governor Douye Diri and his deputy Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in the Bayelsa 2019 governorship election have cried out to the prosperity government that they have been abandoned.
In a statement on, signed by Bob Manuel Fayeofori chairman and Tomvie Beinmo secretary in Yenagoa, the former party candidates lamented that they supported and sacrificed their lives and that of their families for Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrujakpo but have been abandoned.
Crying out to the international communities and the PDP government at various levels, the people said despite all the lucrative, fabulous appointments and empowerment promises made by the prosperity government, they have been left to their fate.
According to them, they even decamped from their varied parties to the ruling PDP as part of the agreement for the promised packages from the Diri government yet nothing has come their way.
They reminded the governor and his deputy who made the yet to be fulfilled promises that fresh elections would be coming soon.
The statement read in part, “I Hon. Tomnvie Beinmo, secretary and my chairman, Bob Manuel Fayeofori stand on behalf of the 21 chairmen and governorship candidates of various political parties in the 2019 governorship general election, who stepped down, supported, and sacrificed our lives and that of our families endlessly for his excellencies, Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrujakpo respectively after being invited for a round table discussion, approached, appealed and pleaded with so much promises, pledges, vows, etc. at Government House on October 22, 2019, have been abandoned.
“Let us remind his excellencies of some of their promises, pledges, vows, and covenants that you will give us lucrative/fabulous appointments, that you will empower us, that you will make us live a comfortable live, that we will not regret supporting you, that you will always see us as wonderful honorable colleagues who stood by you at all times.
“His excellencies gave us so much hopes, confidence and promises but for almost four years in office, we have been suffering from various degrees of frustration, pains and sorrow. Most of us and our families have been rendered homeless, hopeless and helpless and separated from our marriages.
“We have been patient, faithful, prayerful and working hard for his excellencies to do same by inviting us again to a round table for an appreciation and fulfillment of their promises, pledges.
“His excellencies took our names right at the table of discussion. Thereafter, severally, we have been asked to forward our names again for appointments and empowerment in various positions for more than five times but nothing has happened.
“Personally, I Beinmo have made more efforts in various modalities to see that the promises which made us to step down begins to manifest in our lives but no way. We have been totally forgotten, neglected and put to shame.
“We were told that His excellencies said we should decamp to PDP first before considering us for appointments and empowerment. So we decamped to PDP on February 5, 2021.
“Therefore, we use this platform to call/cry out for urgent support/help/assistant, response, for restoration, recovery of all what we have lost. We also remind his excellencies that election is just by the corner again. We strongly believe that our cry will be urgently responded to.”
