The management of Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Edo State, has honoured the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to the development of the Niger Delta.

The award was presented on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the university to the PAP headquarters in Abuja.
Presenting the award on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Registrar and Head of the Educational Services Unit/Admissions, Mr. Ekhator Osahenrumwen Kingsley, said the honour was in recognition of Dr. Otuaro’s “outstanding leadership, exemplary service, unwavering commitment and remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the Niger Delta.”
Kingsley was accompanied by the Senior Assistant Registrar, Mrs. Ikhuiwurefe Pretty, and the Assistant Registrar, Mrs. Esimaje Adaobi, both of the university’s Abuja Liaison Office.
Following the presentation, the university delegation held discussions with Dr. Otuaro on issues of mutual interest aimed at strengthening collaboration between Benson Idahosa University and the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Responding, Dr. Otuaro expressed appreciation to the university for the recognition and dedicated the award to the management and staff of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, describing the honour as a reflection of their collective efforts and commitment to the Programme’s mandate.
Benson Idahosa University is among the tertiary institutions partnering with the Presidential Amnesty Programme in the implementation of its scholarship scheme, which provides educational opportunities for beneficiaries from the Niger Delta region.

The award underscores the growing collaboration between the university and the PAP in advancing education and human capital development as part of broader efforts to promote sustainable peace and development in the Niger Delta.
