The chairman/chief executive officer of Orashi Unity Development Initiative, Mr Victor Obuzor says if he is elected into the Federal House of Representatives in 2023 to represent the people of Ahoada West/Ogba/Egbema and Ndoni, ONELGA Federal Constituency, he would not only focus on improving the socio-economic condition of the region and also attract development and essential infrastructure to the entire region.
Obuzor, an engineer by profession, made the promise last Monday in an exclusive chat with National Point in Port Harcourt.
Said he: “If elected and given the mandate to represent the people of Ahoada West/Onelga Federal Constituency, within my capacity, I will not only improve the living condition or wellbeing of the people of Orashi region but I will lobby to attract development and essential infrastructure to this region.”
The former staff of TotalFina/Elf expressed concern over the failure of lawmakers and the executive arm of government in successive administrations to dredge the Orash River and its flood-prone tributaries.
Commenting on antecedents as criteria to seek elective office, the Peoples Democratic flag bearer said. “You don’t have to have political antecedent before you go into politics. There are different ways you can go into politics. During my childhood, I learnt a lot from my father as a politician.
“To win election is all about God. Victory is from God. I count on the electorate in Ahoada West/Ogba Egbema/Ndoni for my victory towards the next year general election. All in all, I look up to the Lord for my victory in the up-coming election”.
The Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, graduate promised that if elected he would place priority on the wellbeing of women and youth in his constituency as he harped on the need for them to have a sense of belonging.
“If elected to represent the Ahoada West/Ogba. Egbema/Nndoni Federal Constituency, women and youth wellbeing will be given top priority. They will be given a sense of belonging. I will also ensure that they acquire relevant skills,” the PDP candidate pledged.
He pointed out that one of the reasons why he is seeking to represent his people is to ensure they are effectively represented and genuine oversight over affairs and projects concerning his constituency.
“As a leading expert in the oil and gas sector, I want to inform you that I want to give good and effective representation for my people at the center. In fact, for the people of Ahoada West/Onelga Federal Constituency it will be quality representation.”
Obuzor promised to be always available to his people through collectivism and consultation.
He commended the the leadership of the PDP in Rivers State.
