Members of the Labour Party in Rivers State have unveiled Maxwell as the running mate of their governorship candidate. Speaking during the event over the weekend in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Labour Party candidate, Comrade Beatrice Itubo said if Nigerians must get it right democratically in 2023, the electorate must be able to vote for Peter Obi and all Labour Party candidates across the country.
“If we elect Sir Peter Obi as Nigeria’s president in 2023, Sir Obi will not salvage this country alone. Therefore, during the next year general elections, try to vote for all other Labour candidates,” she urged.
In his acceptance speech, the running mate to Comrade Beatrice Itubo, Maxwell said
Rivers people are lucky to have a person like Comrade Ituo as its Labour Party governorship candidate.
“Rives people and the Labour Party are lucky to have a candidate like Comrade Itubo. Comrade Itubo is important to Rivers State as Peter Obi is important to Nigeria”, he stated.
He describe Comrade Itubo as a woman of integrity.”
State chairman of the party, Mr. Denye Pepple said that the leadership of the party in the state took their time to shop for a person who has a track record to be the running mate of Labour governorship candidate in the state.
Comrade Itubo stated that if LP candidates are elected next year, they would bring about positive change, stressing the need for Rivers people to give the female gender the opportunity to govern the state.
“Today, we of the Labour Party have gathered to make a change. We of the Labour Party are bringing in positive change to our country next year. When people are in agreement they can achieve anything. Let Rivers people allow another gender folk to govern this state,” Comrade Itubo asserted.
While Comrade Itubo is from Rivers West Senatorial District, her running mate is from Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
