Prof Joy Ezeilo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), law teacher and founder of WACOL, says she is fully in support of creation of state police in Nigeria.
Ezeilo said this in a statement through her X social media handle.
She lamented the failure of government to implement the recommendations of various judicial panels of inquiry and to ensure justice for the Nigerian people.
“I was a part of the #ENDSARS Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality.
“It’s disheartening that justice has not been served, and the decisions from the various Panels of Inquiry nationwide have yet to be implemented.
“Without accountability, impunity continues,” she said.
The erudite professor of law also accused the Nigeria Police of commercialising its operations, especially, in Enugu State.
“These days, the Nigeria Police Force has started commercialising their services, charging fixes amounts as high as N300k (in Enugu for example), and hardly responds to poor crime victims requiring their intervention.
“I support the constitutional creation of State Police and the reorganisation of the NPF for utmost professionalism,” she said.
