The Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, has commenced enforcement of its “No Identity Card, No Entry” policy for staff, students and visitors as part of efforts to strengthen security on campus.

The enforcement began on Monday, October 19, 2026, with members of a committee deployed to the university’s entry points to ensure compliance with the directive.
Dr Theresa Belema Chris-Biriowu, a committee member representing the Directorate of Student Affairs, said the policy was designed to ensure proper identification of everyone entering the university premises.
Under the policy, staff and students who forget their identity cards may obtain visitor tags to gain access to the campus. However, such tags will not permit staff to perform their official duties or students to participate in academic activities.
The measure is aimed at ensuring that everyone on campus can be properly identified and accounted for, thereby reducing potential security risks.

The university said the policy was part of its broader efforts to protect lives and property within the institution.
The enforcement marks a stricter approach to access control at the university, requiring staff, students and visitors to comply with the identification requirements while conducting their activities on campus.
