Six Edo Guber Candidates Partake At ITV Debates

Six Governorship candidates out of the 18 political parties that fielded candidates for the Edo State governorship election participated in the Governorship Election Debate put together by the Independent Television (ITV) and Radio
The candidates who made out time to be at the debate, gave accounts of their capacities to turn the fortune of the state around if given the chance.
Responding to the question on how they would tackle the issues of education in the state, the candidates all agreed on training and retraining of teachers to meet up with the present reality.
On the current economy of the state and how to shore up its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), they all maintained that a friendly environment for businesses to thrive is needed.
They all agreed that government financial leakages must be blocked, the agricultural sector must be revamped while also developing the tourism sector of the state.
The governorship candidates further urged the media to stop giving undue recognitions to the so-called politicians but to provide a level playing field for all governorship candidates through their various platforms.
They also advocated that election debates should be included in the Nigeria constitution because it would avail the electorate to ask candidates vying for any political positions pertinent questions and get answers from them.
National Point reported that among the governorship candidates who attended the debate are Oberaifoh Udo of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), Derek Izedomwen of the African Democratic Party (ADC), Isaiah Osifoh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Azemhe Azena of the New Nigeria Democratic Party (NNDP), Patience Ndidi Ofure of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and Paul Okungbowa Ovbokha of the Young Democratic Party (YPP).
Candidates of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party and others were absent at the debate.
