The Amanyanabo of Obumitomchiri in Port Harcourt City (PHLGA) King Derrick Acheseomie has charged monarchs across the state to continue to promote and maintain peaceful co-existence among the various communities and LGAs in the state.
King Acheseomie gave this charge in a chat with newsmen at his palace in Port Harcourt. According to him, every king or monarch in Rivers State must sue for peace for the development of his kingdom and the state. The King must also be a peaceful person so that peace will always remain in his kingdom.
“The king can always promote peace or peaceful co-existence because it is only the authority of the king that can be known. This is why we the kings advocate for peace at all times,” he said.
King Acheseomie stated that without peace and stability there would be no democracy. “Peace is paramount for people living in a particular place. In fact, without peace you can never be an organized people. Without peace and stability democracy cannot work. The gains of democracy can be visibly seen when there is peace and stability,” King Achieseomie emphasized.
The monarch pointed out that since the youths are prone to problems there was the need for community leaders and chiefs to organize seminars and workshop for the youths to enable them acquire knowledge.
“The youths will always bring problems to you in a community. They are bound to make research and want to question the status quo and make changes. Therefore, the king of a particular kingdom must always organize seminars for the youths to enable them acquire knowledge. The moment they acquire positive values and skills they will be advising themselves.”
King Acheiseomie stated that in order for a monarch to endear himself to his people, he must be ready to adapt to the changes of the time, stressing on the need for job creation.
“In every community there are always the elements of social vices such as corruption, cultism and all manners of sexual immorality. In fact, we must realize that the youth which are in the bracket of adventures or adventurism will always want to make life comfortable for themselves. Therefore, the king in each of our kingdom should try to meet government officials in order to create jobs for the youths or empower the unemployed youths.
He expressed satisfaction with the developmental strides of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his recent economic policy to boost the economy of the state.
“I want to use this medium to commend Governor Fubara for stimulating and boosting the economic growth of the state by announcing the sum of N4 billion for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). In fact, this economic initiative and opportunities will reduce poverty in the state,” King Acheseomie lauded.
He admonished the youths of Obuitomchiri Kingdom to be focused as well as remain law-abiding, adding that destabilizing and destructive behavior does not pay.
