Former Commissioner in Bayelsa State, former member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and former representative of the state on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief (Hon.) Ball T. Oyarade, has died.
Oyarade reportedly died in the early hours of Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Government House Hospital in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
His death was announced in a statement describing Monday as a “black Monday” for the Aleibiri Federated Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state.
Oyarade, who represented his constituency in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly between 2015 and 2019, was also a former member of the state executive council.
He subsequently served as Bayelsa State’s representative on the NDDC.
A grassroots politician and respected community leader, Oyarade’s death has been described as a major loss to the Aleibiri Federated Community, Ekeremor Local Government Area and Bayelsa State.
Tributes were expected from political associates, community leaders and other stakeholders as news of his death spread across the state.
He is survived by his family, political associates and community members.
