Residents of Oyigbo in Rivers State have lamented the bad state of internal roads in the city as the rains set in and flash floods worsen movement of people and vehicles.
“We are trapped” said Victor Okpute, who runs Oyigbo TV, an online Television outfit dedicated to reporting life in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Okpute said the kind of suffering that residents of the city have been exposed to “can’t be found anywhere in the universe,” adding, “Even in Animal Farm you Can’t Read the Nightmare Situation people are going through in Oyigbo LGA.”
He said he would not listen to anything any official would say about the state of the roads in Oyigbo because the people are trapped in their homes.
He recalled that none of the past governor of Rivers State had done much to alleviate the suffering the people of the area had been going through.
He said, “Former Governor (Peter) Odili didn’t build internal roads in Oyigbo LGA. (Governor Chibuike) Amaechi didn’t build, (Governor Nyesom) Wike didn’t build internal street roads, (Governor Siminalayi) Fubara didn’t build internal street roads.”
He said the people are going through nightmares because of the terrible conditions of internal roads, which he described as very unfortunate.
