Edo University Iyamho has announced the passing of its former Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dawood O. Egbefo, less than three weeks after he handed over to the new Vice-Chancellor.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Amaechi Kelly Quincy, confirmed the development in a statement issued to the press. While the statement did not disclose the cause or date of his death, it extended condolences to the late professor’s family, friends, and the academic community, praying for his peaceful repose and strength for his loved ones.
Prof. Egbefo, a native of Edo Central Senatorial District, was a Professor of History and International Studies. He previously served as Acting Vice-Chancellor of Edo University and held various academic and administrative roles throughout his career.
An alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Egbefo also had expertise in library and information studies, with research interests spanning history, international relations, and public governance.
The university described him as a distinguished scholar, an astute administrator, and a mentor whose humility, dedication, and commitment to education made a lasting impact on the institution.
