Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of new teachers to fill the manpower gaps in public schools across the state.
The decision, announced on Tuesday, is part of the administration’s renewed drive to strengthen the basic education system and ensure adequate staffing in primary and junior secondary schools.
As part of the measure, Governor Fubara also directed the revalidation of the 1,000 teachers recruited in 2023. The exercise is intended to confirm their engagement status and ensure proper documentation.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB), Hon. Sam Ogeh, all affected teachers are to report to the RSUBEB State Office at Elechi Beach, Port Harcourt, for the revalidation exercise.
The exercise is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Teachers recruited in 2023 are required to come with their appointment and posting letters.
The development is seen as a demonstration of Governor Fubara’s commitment to revitalising public schools, following recent concerns about acute teacher shortages across the state.
