The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed this on Monday, stating that the investigative panel had concluded its assignment and found that the affected officers had cases to answer.
According to him, the indicted officers will now be subjected to a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Major General Uba explained that the investigation examined the conduct of the officers and identified actions that were “inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces.” He stressed that the exercise was strictly an internal disciplinary process aimed at preserving professionalism, discipline, cohesion and operational effectiveness within the military.
He added that the Armed Forces remain committed to constitutional order and loyalty to the democratically elected government, noting that no form of indiscipline or subversive activity would be tolerated within the ranks.

The Defence Headquarters noted that most of the indicted officers are drawn from the Infantry, Signals and Ordnance Corps of the Armed Forces.
Major General Uba assured Nigerians that due process would be strictly followed and that the outcome of the Court Martial would be made public at the appropriate time, reaffirming the military’s loyalty to the Constitution and the democratic order.
