Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South to remain united and focused in order to improve the party’s electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fubara gave the charge while addressing delegates at the APC South-South Zonal Congress held in Asaba, Delta State. He stressed that unity of purpose and collective effort were critical to strengthening the party’s performance in the region.
According to the governor, the newly elected zonal leadership must work with dedication and commitment to achieve the party’s objectives, noting that the task before them would require resilience and cooperation.
“We can only achieve our goal when we are united and work together. I believe this is the right time, with the right people in the right place. The responsibility before those elected today is very demanding, but I am confident they will deliver for our party,” Fubara said.
The governor expressed confidence in the capacity of the re-elected zonal executives to move the party forward and appreciated the Delta State Government for hosting the congress. He added that the South-South region has the potential to contribute significantly to the party’s success in future elections.
The congress, which attracted top APC stakeholders across the zone, witnessed the re-election of the party’s zonal leadership through a consensus arrangement. The returned officials were inaugurated immediately after the exercise.
Among dignitaries present at the event were the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Governors Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.
