The Ebitimi Banigo Hall Auditorium, University of Port Harcourt Choba venue of the event was packed full. The hall was filled with people of all ages and strata of life yet, as speaker after speaker eulogised the man, academic, prolific author of award winning books, there was a palpable sense of agreement that all the accolades were real, well deserved and more. The occasion was a public celebration by the University of Port Harcourt, of the life and 88th birthday of a simple man, with a deep intellect who enriched lives of people and communities into whose history he dug and captured in the 168 books which bear his name. The event was also an occasion to unveil the Legacy Lecture Series in his honour. The event had in attendance dignitaries including King Dandeson Jaja of Opobo Kingdom, King Edmund Daukoru, Mingi V11 of Nembe Kingdom , Chief Timipre Sylva; representatives of Dr, Goodluck Jonathan, King Amalate J. Turner among others.
The lecture of the occasion Tuesday May 25, 2021 was delivered by Dr. Boladei Igali.
