The Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University (RSU), Professor Blessing Didia landed in serious trouble, following the invasion of some cultists, who killed one Prince Barisua (aka Tuaka); a final year student of the department of Agriculture on Monday and another year-three student..
ISNOnline had reported that the incident spilled over to Tuesday with another invasion into the university campus by some armed young men, who shot sporadically.

The shooting left the university in chaos, as everyone scampered for safety. Some students were even sighted running out half naked just to save their lives first.
Last Tuesday’s invasion and shooting was suspected to be a reprisal to avenge the death of Prince Barisua, popularly called Tuaka.
Governor Nyesom Wike ordered the Vice Chancellor within 24 hours to provide answers why the university campus was invaded by cultists. The order expired by the close of work on Wednesday, July 31.
Governor Wike also formally queried the Vice Chancellor to provide answers to so many complaints of ‘sorting’ and harassment within the university system and directed that the Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, again has 24 hours within which, to respond to that query in writing.
Meanwhile, the Police in the state said that they have arrested two persons in connection with the invasions and killing. Those arrested are Elechi Chibuzor and Nnamdi Chibundu.
Following on the governor’s order and reported fresh killing of another student, this time a year-three student in the campus, Governor Nyesom Wike sacked the VC of the Rivers State University, Prof Blessing Chimezie Didia and his deputy vice chancellor (Administration), Professor Magnus Oruwari.
A statement from Rivers State Ministry of Education said Governor Wike also approved the appointment of Professor Opuenebo B. Owei, deputy vice chancellor (Academics) as the acting vice chancellor of the Rivers State University.
The statement added that Governor Wike has suspended the ongoing employment exercise at the University.
