The chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Chief Ben Eke has flagged off the construction of five (5) projects across the LGA. Speaking during the ceremony recently at Ahoada, Chief Eke said his administration would not only promote the wellbeing of the people but also protect the life and property of the people, hence the need to construct a new police post in the LGA.
According to him, “Given that the role of every government is the protection of life and property, we have found it necessary to construct the new Police Post at Odieka Akoh community and its environs.
”Odieka Akoh community and other neighbouring communities within these areas have given us a cause for concern. However, with this new police post, there will be no miscreants in these areas,” Chief Eke assured.
He reiterated that soon some of the five projects being initiated by his administration would be ready for commissioning.
The chairman also hinted that soon Ahoada East Schools Sports competition would be re-introduced. “Soon we will reintroduce and host Ahoada East Schools Sports competition and the winner will go home with a big prize and the participants and runner ups will also receive prizes and consolation prizes. All these are in a bid to catch them young as well as discover budding talents that represents both the state and country at the national and international levels,” Chief Eke added.
He also stated that there would be quiz competitions among secondary schools in the area.
On how to bring out the best among security personnel serving in the area, Chief eke had this to say: “We will provide logistics to all the security agencies in Ahoada East and we will continue to do so. Similarly, I want to assure the students of Ahoada East Local Government Area that they will continue to receive their bursary until the end of my tenure”.
He commended the political class and stakeholders as well as CDC member from the area for their support.
Earlier, the director of Works at the LGA, Comrade Daminabo said that since the core essence of project implementation is to complete that project, they would work round the clock for that purpose.
Also speaking, the special dviser to Governor Ezenwo Wike, Mr. Victor Denis Aakoro said when the Upata district office of Ahoada East would be completed and put into use, it would decongest and reduce clerical activities in the main Ahoada Council Secretariat especially during election.
“I want to state that the importance of this new Upata district office of Ahoada East LGA will not be overemphasized, this is because during election, some of the electoral materials and results of the 21 towns under Upata clan or district would be assembled and collated at this office,” Mr. Akoro assured.
On his part, the Ahoada Area Commander, ACP Ahmed said the project embarked upon by the council chairman was an indication that he has the interest of the people at heart, adding that he is also security conscious.
“I have worked in several LGAs across this country; I have never seen a hard working man like Chief Eke. In fact, the project he has embarked upon is an indication that Chief Eke has the interest of his people at heart. Besides, coming to work in this area, I have seen a man who is not only security conscious, but is also concerned about security. Therefore, there is need to work with him,” ACP Ahmed emphasized.
He expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the new police post being constructed in the LGA while the market chairman of Ahoada LGA Main Market, Comrade Chisa Orie said Chief Eke has done well for the traders of the market by sinking a bore hole and building over six (6) toilet facilities at the main market.
He appealed to the council chairman to construct a perimeter fence for the safety and security of the over 340 traders in the Ahoada main market.
