To help reduce the sky-rocketing unemployment in Rivers State, the paramount ruler of Rumuosi Community in Akpor Kingdom of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, HRH Eze John Chibuzor Owhortee has appealed to the Rivers State government and good spirited Nigerians to come to their aid by revamping the abandoned syringe company built by the Peter Odili administration 2004 – 2005.
He said if revived, the company will positively impact the community and the state,
Said he: “I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the Rivers State governor, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and good spirited individuals to come to our aid by resuscitating the state owned Syringe Company. This is because if the syringe company is back on stream, it will create jobs for about 2000 unemployed people as well as increase the revenue base of the state”.
Eze Owhortee who is the Nye we li of Rumuosi Community expressed displeasure over the state of the syringe company, pointing out that former Governor Chibuike Amaechi led administration between made some efforts towards revamping the syringe project.
He described Governor Wike as a gift of God to Rivers people, and stated that he believes that before Governor Wike leaves office next year, something would be done about the syringe company.
On the 2022, Rumuosi New Yam Festival, Eze Owhortee had this to say: “I feel very very excited about the 2022 Rumuosi New Yam Festival. This is because the 2022 New Yam Festival of our community is a huge success.”
He promised to continue to do his best for his people.
“Right from my ascension to this throne, I have been trying or doing my best for the people of Rumuosi Community. I will continue to contribute my little quota towards the growth and development of Rumuosi,” Eze Owhortee promised.
He commended Governor Wike for constructing the Rumuosi-Ozuoba link road during his first term and urged his people to ensure peaceful co-existence in their domain.
