Our One Year In Office Has Witnessed Many Good Programmes – Awotu

Andoni Local Government Chairman, Rivers State, Hon Erastus Awortu has stated that his first year in office witnessed several life-touching programmes geared towards boosting household economy in the local communities of the area council.
Awortu made this known while addressing the people on the achievements he recorded in his first year in office with a promise to leverage on available resources for collective benefit of the people.
He said the projects so far initiated were beginning to yield positive impacts in the area of poverty reduction, employment generation as well as addressing restiveness among youths.
The council chairman recalled how his administration inherited the huge task of reviving a lot of public facilities and services that were in disarray due to the challenges of insecurity suffered by the past administration.
“We inherited a council where major public services were almost or completely non-existent in most communities in the area.
“For instance, we took over power when our health care system became halted following a shutdown of the general hospital at the council’s headquarters; the magistrate court was shut down, some schools and communities were also in disarray due to high insecurity at that time.
“Within one year of our administration, every sector has bounced back and normal services and peace has returned to the area,” he said.
The chairman also noted that beyond addressing capacity building, trainings and scholarships for indigent youths of the area, his administration had also delivered key infrastructures across the 11 wards that make up the LGA.
