Etche Son Emerges Senator After 56 yrs – Azuma

Given that an Etche son emerged the next senator to represent Rivers East Senatorial District in the in-coming political dispensation, a chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State, Sir Samuel Azuma says the people of Etche Ethnic Nationality would continue to thank Governor Ezenwo NyesomWike for the choice of Chief Allwell Onyesoh as the PDP standard bearer for the Rivers East Senatorial District. Onyesoh won the mandate at the February 25, 2023 election.
Sir Azuma stated this during the recent Rivers State PDP rally at Eche Local Government Area at Okehi.
“The people of Etche Ethnic Nationality are happy with Governor Wike and leaders of PDP in Rivers State for the choice of Chief. Onyesoh as the PDP standard bearer of Rivers East Senatorial District.
“We are not only happy about it, we are excited about it. Indeed, we cannot thank Governor Wike and leaders of PDP in the state enough for this kind gesture,” stated.
Sir Azumah said Chief Onyesoh would represent the people of the area well, having served as a former commissioner for Education and sports.
Chief Allwell Onyesoh emerged as a senator to the 10th National Assembly that would represent the people of Rivers East Senatorial District, the first such top office holder from the Etche axis.
Since the creation of Rivers State and the return of civil rule in 1999, no indigene of Etche has ever emerged a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Senators who have represented Rivers East Senatorial District are, Senator John Mbata (Ikwerre), Senator Andrew Uchendu (Ikwerre), and serving Senator George Thompson Sekibo, Okrika (Wakirike).
