Everybody has a right to live and live freely and happily in this world. Equal opportunity should be given to all to make this happen. This includes the orphans whose only surviving guardian is the government, their supposed burden bearer as in the book of Galatians 6:2-“Bear ye one another’s burdens and so, fulfill the law of Christ”.
Opportunity should be given to the orphans to live like all the rest. The idea of some roaming the street like sheep without a shepherd, poses problem and endangers their lives and that of others around them whom they already see as being superior and enemies, who get whatever they need at the snap of their fingers.
With the rising hardship and stress upon individuals, it is high time the government addressed this issue because time is now like the book of Ecclesiastes says, “There is time for everything; there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven”.
Now is the time to show that our government is inclusive, supportive and hospitable, by bringing back the helpless, the rejected, as ordered in the book of Luke: “Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in hither, the poor, and the maimed and the halt and the blind.”
By so doing, Christ only proved that it is a good shepherd that does these things for his sheep. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for his sheep.”-John 10: 10-11.
The government is not only a good shepherd but also a friend for according to Proverbs 18:24, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly, and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
Therefore, I urge government at all levels, to do unto the less privileged what a good shepherd and friend does because the book of Matthew 7:12 charges us to do unto others as we would like others to do to us.
“Therefore, do all things whatsoever ye would that men do to you, do even so to them.”
Put a smile in their faces, give them strength and love and do what Hebrews 12:12-13 prescribes: “Wherefore, lift up the hands which hang down and the feeble knees. And make straight, paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way but let it rather be healed.” And the reward of all these good works is found in the book of Matthew 25:23,
“Thus said the Lord unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; thou has been faithful over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the joy of the Lord”.
