A stalwart of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide and younger brother of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Robert Igali, and three others recently kidnapped along Elele Community in Rivers State while trying to rescue Bayelsa State bound accident victims have been released..
The accident victims, according to eyewitness account, were returning from the wedding ceremony of an appointee of the member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Preye Oseke in Mbaise axis of Imo State when the bus they boarded got involved in an accident.
Igali and three of his friends, who on hearing the news rushed to the scene of the accident from Yenagoa, were kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Madonna University Teaching Hospital in Elele Community, Rivers State where the accident victims were receiving treatment.
The kidnappers, according to sources, contacted the Igali family demanding N5 million as ransom for their son.
It is not clear if a ransom was paid but National Point was informed by family sources that the captives have been set free.
