An outbreak of avian influenza otherwise known as Bird Flu has been reported in Afam, Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State. Poultry farmers in the community said hundreds of their birds have died following the outbreak. The, farmers, who said they were yet to report the outbreak to the Ministry of Agriculture in Port Harcourt, told reporters that they had applied measures to temporarily stop the deaths of their birds. The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has resumed work on the construction of Kaa – Ataba Road and bridges to link the Khana Local Government Area to the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. The Project Supervisor, Mr. Lawrence Ekanem, described the multi-billion-naira project as ambitious and impactful.
