Edo State commissioner of Police, CP Philip Ogbadu has directed the Homicide Department and other tactical teams of the state police command to instantly unravel those behind the kidnap and murder of a food vendor , Mrs. Taofik Tawa in Benin city, Edo state.
Disclosing the ugly information, the Edo State police public relations officer, SP Bello Kontongs added that the police got a report that a food vendor was abducted from a house at Osaretin Asemota street, Off Uwagboe Street, Ugbowo in Benin City in the evening of January 15, 2022, but the woman was found dead the next day.
SP Kontongs stated that the assailants later removed some organs from the woman’s body and dumped her in a sawmill in the area.
The suspects now at large also hurriedly used sawdust to bury the woman as her undies that were displayed helped in identifying the deceased.
SP Kontongs said men of the Homicide Department and other police teams in the Command have stepped up action to ensure the arrest of those who carried out the dastardly act.
“We have condoled the family of the deceased and we wish to appeal to the public to remain calm. We can assure you that we will arrest those who killed Mrs. Tawa Taofik and ensure that they face the wrath of the law,” said the PRO.
The deceased, Mrs. Tawa Taofik who left behind four children has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
