Businessmen, women and traders closed shop and came out en masse to hear and receive prayers, blessings and anointing from Rev. Fr. Andrew Obiyan in the popular Evafike Spare Parts Motor Market in Benin city at a revival service organized by the traders.
The traders who were in large numbers were filled with the Holy Ghost, and danced as the servant of God delivered the sermon interspersed with deliverance and prophecies.
Speaking to journalists on the prayer session, the parish priest of St. Francis Catholic Church, College Road Ekenwan, Rev. Fr. Andrew Obiyan, said a harvest of uncommon blessings are expected as a follow-up to the revival service.
“Yes, what we expect at the end of this programme is a harvest of uncommon blessings, because the blessings of God came down like rain from on high and like the sun shine from on high.
“These men and women will now begin to enjoy not only what they have laboured and sweated for, but there are things they will enjoy that grace will give freely onto them. We believe so much on the people,” Rev Fr. Obiyan said.
Giving reason for the revival session, Coordinator of the Evafike Christian Market Fellowship programme, Mr. Ugochukwu Ubasinachi, said they often hold the prayer three times in a year, but because of the economic hardship in the country, they have been able to hold only this event since 2023 started. He expressed surprise that Rev Fr. Obiyan honoured their invitation.
“We normally have this church prayer three times in a year, but for this year, we have not had the programme because of the problems in Nigeria. By the grace of God we decided to hold the church prayer programme.
“That is why we invited Rev. Fr. Obiyan; we did not believe that he will come but we were amazed to see the man of God here”.
According to him, the programme was successful and wonderful. “Normally, we often close by 10:30am. But for this programme our members were not eager to go back to their shops because of the spiritually impactful programme. We thanked God and Rev. Fr. Obiyan for the insightful programme”.
He said as a result of testimonies from the service, they would be happy to host the Rev Father again.
“By the grace of God we are looking forward to inviting him again. I thank God for what he used Rev. Fr. Obiyan to do in this market today. I also thank all the people that came”, Pastor Ugochukwu said.
In line with what Pastor Ugochukwu said, one of the worshippers, Mr. Humphrey Ewalefoh said, he felt the Holy Ghost touch him during the revival service.
Ewalefoh said, “I am from Esan North East Local Government Area in Edo State. I am a trader here. During the prayer programme, I heard from the Holy Spirit. I knew that something is going to happen, I received a revelation day before yesterday.”
“When God sent His servant to give me microphone and a Bible with a verse, I was not surprised because I know the move and the power of God went down direct to me in this church prayer programme”.
Ewalefoh said he had known the man of God before now. “I knew Rev. Fr. Obiyan when I was in NIFOR some years ago. I have been attending his programmes. There was a time I attended his programme, I felt something in my spirit, and I was blessed. That is why I came to today’s prayer programme,” he explained.
