One of the leading Catholic priests in Nigeria, Very Rev. Fr. Louismary Obiajulu Okeyia has commended members of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Rumuolumeni (Olumeni) for their support and positive impact on his life.
Rev. Fr. Louismary Okeyia made the commendation during his 55th birthday and 22 years priestly anniversary ordination.
According to him, “Since I came to this parish you have been supporting me as well as identifying with me. Your support to me has not only made me happy but you have also given me more reasons to continue to serve God and touch lives. Therefore, I thank you for coming to celebrate with me. Indeed, I am sure that for you to have left everything you are supposed to do and come here to celebrate with me means that I am important to you.”
He explained that he would continue to be grateful to the Almighty God because of what he passed through at the Catholic Seminary.
“I am grateful to the Almighty God, because I know what I passed through at the Catholic Seminary. Therefore, for every mass I celebrate, I see it as my first and last. I want to urge you to continue to pray for me as I continue to pray for you. I want to assure you that I will never leave you,” Rev. Fr. Okeyia assured.
He described the day as a fulfilled one in his life. “I am very happy and I feel fulfilled. So, I thank you for making this day for me. This is because for me every date or day of my ordination is a special day.”
Rev Fr. Okeyia told the faithful of the parish to always advise him and other priests of the parish.
“Please if there are areas we are not doing well as priests, please advise us. This is because we have flesh and blood. This is because both the priests and the faithful of this parish are fighting the same cause.”
Rev. Fr. Okeyia assured well-wishers friends and faithful who came to celebrate with him that other people would also celebrate them.
“As you have come to celebrate with me today, other people will also celebrate you and members of your families.
He thanked the organizers of the programme for their effort and excellent planning before and during the programme.
“I want to thank the organizers of this programme for their efforts. I want to thank them for a job well done,” Rev. Fr. Okeyia commended.
He also lauded the medical students of the University of Port Harcourt for their services during the medical outreach organize by members of the organizing committee of the programme.
