Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, under Comrade Aliu Oshiomhole, Osagie Obayuwana, SAN, has lamented the backwardness, incompetence exhibited by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration since he assumed leadership of the country. He therefore called for a leader who is competent to handle issues to transform the country.
Obayuwana who was the keynote speaker at a book launch/public presentation of a book, titled “Poverty of Nigerian Elites” organized by Prof. Lawrence Bratte. Bratre author of the work, is a lecturer at the University of Benin, Benin city Obayuwana, said at these are perilous times where by nothing in the country works as a result of bad leadership in all aspects of the economy.”
In his remarks, the Chairman of the book launch, Engr. (Dr.) Okwara Udensi, described the book as a well researched book which encompasses every area of our life.
Udensi, who is also the Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), of Edo-Delta branch, urged the participants at the event who have no PVCs to go and register online on theINEC Portal, to enable them vote out bad leaders ahead of the 2023 general polls.
He lamented that there is no good and speedy progress in Nigeria, as a matter of bad leadership.
Dr. Udensi, lamented that, at this era when the nation is going through all forms of hindrances that Nigeria needs a leader is purposeful, capable and versatile leadership that can make a difference in every sector of the country.
He therefore appeal to the participants to launch the book to enable the author print more copies for sale for those that need, and have passion for the reading of the book.
He said, as a result of this, small and medium producers are passing through hardship, with heavy tax levy on them by the Federal government.
He described the book as well researched material, rich and vital in every area of the nation.
“For somebody who is in the manufacturing sector. I am speaking of the peculiar challenges that the small and medium producers are facing in the country. We do not exercised control over what we produce.
We must design the process of what we want to produce.
“I salute the courage of the author on the depth of issues discussed. The treatment of the issue is quite eloquent and forth right.”
“I describe the book as a must read for every person that is interested and concern led about the progress of this country,” he added.
Commenting on the book launch, the PDP candidate in the past poll in Egor constituency, Edo State House of Assembly, Jimmy Osagiede, decried the rot in the educational sector in the nation.
Osagiede who is also the Principal Jimmy Osaigede & Co, said because of the present decay, mess, in the nation’s educational system, there is the need to revamp the sector to enable the country witness rapid advancements in every sector of the economy. He urged men of God to often preach patriotism, hardwork, morals with the right attitudes, not celebrating those who got their wealth illegally.
In his welcome address, the author, Prof. Bratte, described the book as a one that focuses on all areas of the economy and the country. He thanked all the participants that graced the occasion.
