The leader of the BRACED Union and ethnic nationality activist, High Chief Monday Wehere JP has charged the South-East and South-South Governors to immediately investigate the revelation of a Northern Elder, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai that Northern youths flooding Southern Nigeria were not Almajiris.
Wehere said it was pertinent for the Governors to look into the matter urgently with a view to unraveling the truth, claiming that we were living in a weird era when all hands should be on deck to ensure adequate security of our region.
He stated that some of the truths coming out now especially from
Northern elites should not be treated with kids gloves.
“Strategies must be put in place in order not to be taken unawares. We are daily witnessing mindless killings of our people by suspected Fulani herdsmen. There is no adequate security arrangement to abate this menace, yet youths from the North continue to flood our region.
“For this revelation to come from a personality like Tanko Yakassai, it should not be taken lightly. It should be processed, analysed at the Governors’ Forum level and action taken to unravel the truth behind the movement of these Northern youths”, Wehere posited.
In an interview with Vanguard, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai had claimed that the Northern youths flooding the South were not Almajiris. He claimed that Almajiris don’t wear clothes, insisting that he could never be part of those working to disintegrate the country.
Meanwhile, Wehere had opined that Yakassai’s comments meant that there was more to the insecurity issues in the South than met the eye, adding that it only called for proactive response to the issue of security, to forestall any form of sudden invasion.
He commended Yakassai for being honest to clarify the misunderstanding, maintaining that if those flooding the South in this Covid-19 period were not Almajiris, then the intention of those moving the youths to the region should also be unraveled.
