An appeal has been made for the consideration of Warri and environs in the dispensation of justice when the newly inaugurated Appeal Court in Asaba becomes fully operational.
Albert Akpomudje (SAN) made the appeal while speaking with journalists in Asaba on the establishment of the Asaba Division of the Court of Appeal. He said the Asaba Appeal Court it is a welcome development as it will assist in disposing off cases and administering justice to all concerned.
The legal icon appealed that consideration should be given to the Warri axis, pointing out that bulk of the cases that emanated from Delta to the Benin Division Appellate Court Benin Division were from Warri axis.
He contended that it is cheaper and more convenient for lawyers to travel from Warri and its environs to Benin to respond to Appeal cases than to Asaba.
He argued that the distance between Benin and Warri axis is shorter than between Warri and its environ to Asaba, saying even in terms of cost and inconveniences in travelling, the Benin route is also more convenient.
The expert in election petition matters and arbitration, said since the essence of the court just law is to bring justice to all, the Warri axis should be given consideration by the judicial authorities.
He explained that there are structures in Warri axis that can accommodate an appeal court.
