Proceedings at the Coroner in respect of Sylvester Oromoni vs Dowen College resumed at the Magistrates Court, Ikeja, Lagos. Oromoni family lead lawyer Femi Falana SAN arrived the Court shortly after other lawyers including Andrew Efole and Victor Chukwuma from the Chambers of Anthony George – Ikoli SAN got there before 8am. On hand to witness proceedings were INC Lagos Chapter Chairman Pst. Ebitimi Dio Posibi, IYC Lagos Chapter Chairman Comrade Tikima Arigban, his Vice Ibifaka Winifred, past IYC Chairman Henry Oyobolo, rep of IYC National Otiena Amafina, Elders Robinson Oyanene, Godbless Ozegbe, INC’s Ebiowei Benson and other IYC members.
First to mount the witness box for cross examination was a senior tutor of Dowen College, Mr. Valentine. He joined the school in 2005. Falana, usually in his elements hurled a total of 61 questions at him.
Next witness was 13 years old Master…(names withheld) A former roommate to Sylvester Oromoni jnr, the eye witness told the Court how he watched helplessly as the accused students bullied, tortured and brutalized the deceased. He said in his presence the deceased was beaten to pulp, dragged on the floor and kicked ruthlessly. At a point, the father, Sylvester snr broke down in tears and wept.
Simply put, the minor eye witness spilled the beans. Oromoni family lawyers described the minor as a “witness of truth”. Hearing continues.
