The Apostolic Church, Nigeria (TACN) has inaugurated the Good Shepherd field of the church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Performing the inauguration on Sunday December 15, 2024 at the church’s administrative headquarters in Port Harcourt, the chairman of Interstate Missionary Territory of T.A.C.N, Apostle Dr. I. A. Uye, said that in order to achieve the goals and objective of the church, members of the Good Shepherd Field should work hard to build more churches across the country and also win more souls for Christ.
He said the church of Jesus Christ was not only about building edifices but working round the clock for God’s kingdom through the principles of Christ such as blood, water and lifestyle.
Apostle Uye, who also delivered the sermon, cited Psalm 8:3 – 8 and 1 Corinthians 3:9 – 11 to admonish the new members of Good Shepherd Field that inaugurating them was part of a way to prepare them to go further in search of souls for the Lord, noting that the foundation for God’s building cannot be laid without Jesus Christ.
“The field means the world. And nobody can stop members of the Good Shepherd Field from carrying out their assignment. As the chairman of the Interstate Missionary Territory of our church I want to reassure you that no other parish or branch of The Apostolic Church Nigeria has the right or authority to stop Good Shepherd Field.
“In fact, in no distant time the Good Shepherd Field will swallow others. This is because the Good Shepherd Field is big and large,” he said.
Apostle Dr. Uye hinted that under the Inter-State Missionary Territorial they have such Field as Oro Field, Blessed Field and Good Shepherd Field across the country and around the world, noting that with the inauguration of Good Shepherd Field in Port Harcourt all the 3 Fields have been inaugurated in the country.
He charged widows to support one another.
The Field Superintendent of Good Shepherd Field Apostle Dr. Matthew Udoh thanked the church authority for inaugurating Good Shepherd Field in Port Harcourt and promised that members of the Good Shepherd Field would not disappoint the trust placed on them.
“One thing I want to let you all to know is that a tree can never make a forest. Therefore, there is need for team work or collaboration in order to move Good Shepherd Field forward,” Apostle Dr. Udoh opined.
He maintained that as the Superintendent of Good Shepherd Field he would use his capacity to introduce innovations and positive changes for evangelism for Christ, saying that he was happy for the congregation standing by him and his members.
On his part, the Secretary of Good Shepherd Field, Apostle E. B. Ifot, said that the journey for the final inauguration of Good Shepherd Field has been on for a very long time, pointing out that it has not been easy because people like him had never run afoul of the law.“The purpose of this Field is to spread the gospel around the world. Our main focus is to move to the hinterland and gather or win souls for Christ,” Apostle Ifot emphasized.
He expressed happiness and joy that Good Shepherd Field has eventually been inaugurated in spite of the earlier obstacles and resistance.
A member of the Lagos State District of the church and an ex-soldier, Elder Emmanuel Effiong said the inauguration was never too late, and urged that the godfather syndrome and domination in churches should be stopped.
A female leader in the church, Deaconess Veronica Imah, said she was very grateful to God for making the inauguration of Good Shepherd Field of the Apostolic Church Nigeria a reality.
“Members of Good Shepherd Field of T.A.C.N should not lose hope no matter the situation. As mothers or women we should know that the key to longer and healthier life is prayer. As mothers, our duty is to pray for our children and husband as well as the nation,” Deaconess Imah emphasized.
