Schools reopen for the new academic session, the Rivers State ministry of education has warned principals, and heads of schools to banish the thought of collecting any fees or levies from pupils/students as violation will attract serious consequences.
In a release sent out to the media and the public to this effect signed by the commissioner for education, Prof Kaniye Ubeku, parents are directed to call the number 07030967868 to report any found violating the order, which is from the governor.

As schools reopen for the new academic year, 2020/2021session, Principals and Heads of Schools are hereby, reminded that the State Governor, His Excellency Nyesom Wike has since banned the collection of charges and fees of any kind and for any purpose from students and pupils. Any Principal, Head Teacher or others caught violating the ban will be summarily dealt with in accordance the extant laws and rules.
Pupils, parents and guardians should please resist payment of any charges and promptly report any incidents of demand to the Honourable Commissioner for Education using this phone number: 07030967868.
