Women of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Aggrey Road, Port Harcourt, under the Port Harcourt Catholic Diocese have held their 2022 Mother’s Day celebration.
Speaking while performing the unveiling of Mother Marty’s status and launching of Catholic Women Organisation CWO 2022 calendar recently at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aggrey Road Port Harcourt, the parish priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Francis Normakoh said that the leaders and leadership of the church would continue to pray to the Almighty God to keep and bless the women of the church to enable them serve God and humanity more.
“Today is a day for our Mothers, not only just to get together but it is a day for our Mothers to celebrate and thank God for their existence on earth. As leaders of the church we will keep praying for them for God to continue to bless them always,” Rev. Fr. Normakoh prayed.
Also speaking the chairman of the occasion, Mr. Imo William said that the importance and value of women in family and society cannot be over emphasized, adding that every woman needs to be celebrated.
“Every woman needs to be celebrated. Indeed, women are a precious gifts from God to the world. They are creative, sensitive, compassionate and talented. Therefore, we need to adore our women,” Mr. William emphasized.
He said that women of the church should continue to respect people and human dignity.
“Women of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aggrey Road should continue to do their work as well as respect fellow human beings. In fact, they should continue to act as good mothers both at home and elsewhere,” Mr. William opined.
He commended the women of the church for their great vision.
On his part, the president of CWO of the church, Sir, Chief Celestine Nwikoh encouraged the women to continue to do their best in order to sustain the growth and development as well as the progress of the church.
He charged the women of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aggrey Road to organize seminars for women and girls.
Earlier in her address, the president of the CWO, Chief Mrs. Lizzy Bob-Manuel said that the Mother Mary they are celebrating is not only their intercessor but also their harbinger.
“Our Mother Mary whom we are celebrating today, is our harbinger of the good our intercessor has done for us and she says today is a good day that all women will rejoice in it,” Bob-Manuel asserted.
She told the women of the church to work hard as well as, be the apostle of peace.
“Women are called the apostles of peace. Therefore, I urge us to make prayer, patience, honesty, as well as hard work the watch word,” Mrs. Bob-Manuel opined.
She told the women of the parish to live in harmony with their men counterparts.
“We are created by God to live harmoniously with men. That is why the men are here to support us. Similarly, I will like to thank our energetic, innovative and dynamic parish priest, Rev. Fr. Normakoh for all his support and admonition even when we don’t get it all right. My thanks also go to Mrs. Uju Egbunne and her team for this year Mother’s Day celebration,” Mrs. Bob-Manuel concluded.
She charged the youths, particularly the girls to be responsible.
